HPCC Monthly Meeting February 18 with CEDAW and Thoughtful Balance
Edith Bell will introduce Pittsburgh for CEDAW, the Convention to End All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. The Pittsburghers for CEDAW coalition was started by the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, New Voices Pittsburgh, Women and Girls Foundation and the Zonta Club of Pittsburgh. They now have the endorsement of 22 additional organization, including the League of Women Voters, Greater Pittsburgh Business & Professional Women’s Club, ACLU, Women’s Law Project and more.
Laura Nettleton from Thoughtful Balance will present her drawings for three single-family houses on Mellon Street for community feedback. The houses will be three-bedroom, two and half-bathrooms and will be built using Passive House criteria. Passive House results in buildings that save lots of energy up to 75% over standard construction. The houses will be modular construction offering superior quality that will be produced by Eco-Craft Homes. The project will infill the vacant lots that were vacated after an old apartment building and single-family house were demolished some years ago. HPCC Monthly Meeting – January 21st at 7pm

David Hance from the HPCDC will give an annual review of their work in the neighborhood. This will become a standing January meeting presentation.
Kristin Saunders, Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator Department of City Planning will discuss proposed bike infrastructure along Negley Avenue, specifically Negley/5th to Negley/Stanton. If you live on or use Negley often, you will want to attend and see how this might impact you.
HPCC Monthly Meeting with HPCDC and PGH City Planning – January 21st
Join the HPCC for our monthly meeting. Davis Hance from the HPCDC will give an annual review of their work in the neighborhood. This will become a recurring presentation every January. Kristin Saunders, Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator Department of City Planning will discuss proposed changes to proposed bike infrastructure along Negley Avenue, specifically Negley/5th to Negley/Stanton.
The event is the monthly meeting of the Highland Park Community Council with council business at 7pm and speakers starting around 7:30pm. It is held at St Andrews’ Church at 5801 Hampton.
Zone 5 Public Safety Meeting – Tuesday, January 12, 7:00 p.m. at the Union Projec
The first Zone 5 Public Safety Council Meeting for 2016 will take place Tuesday, January 12, 7:00 p.m. at the Union Project. The corners of Stanton and Negley Avenues.
