Each year, the City will have two major curbside collections for yard
debris. This year, Spring Cleanup Collection will be on Saturday
May 19 (usually the 3rd Saturday in May). Residents should look for the green Saturday on their collection schedule. To best prepare for this collection, place all loose leaves, lawn clippings, and plants in brown yard/ leaf bags
which can be purchased from your local hardware store as well as
several supermarkets and department stores. Tie all twigs and
branches in bundles not exceeding 5 feet in length. There is no limit
to the amount set out for the two special yard debris curbside
collections. Throughout the year, residents may continue to take
these items to the recycling drop-off center nearest you (check back
of calendar for more details). Yard debris is transported to a DEP
approved composting site where it is ground up and composted over
the Fall and Spring.

Please join volunteers this Saturday to help continue the tremendous trail building momentum in Highland Park. They will be meeting at the Lake Grove trailhead (across from the swimming pool on Lake Drive). There will be a variety of trail building tasks to work on such as rock-hauling and armoring, bench-cutting, transplanting tree saplings, pruning bushes and moving logs/branches. Please bring boots, gloves and pruning tools if you have them.
