Burglaries in Highland Park and Morningside‏

The Zone 5 police just informed the HPCC that there have been some burglaries around the Zone recently – in Bloomfield, Highland Park and Morningside. The burglars are entering through unlocked windows. Please remember to lock your windows when sleeping or when you are not at home.

Tuesday afternoon, Zone officers arrested two men for entering a home in Morningside through an unlocked window. They do not know if this pair is responsible for other burglaries, but are looking into it. In the meantime, please notify the police of suspicious activities.

Help Improve Your Local Schools by Taking the HPCC/MACC School Survey by June 17th

DilworthThe Highland Park Community Council is working with the Pittsburgh School District to represent the needs of families and students in the neighborhood, but we need your help. Representatives from the HPCC and the Morningside Area Community Council have jointly developed a school survey. Please take the HPCC/MACC School Survey which will be open until Monday, June 17th at midnight.

You may have already taken the School District’s Survey, but please take a few minutes to take the HPCC School Survey about local schools. We need information about how the District could better meet your needs at our local schools such as Fulton, Dilworth, Sunnyside and the Obama Academy.

In January 2013, the District embarked on a large scale visioning process called Envisioning Education Excellence: A Plan for All of Pittsburgh’s Students to address the current state challenges and future goals of the District. The HPCC has representative on the panel (Dave Atkinson), and your input is greatly valued. You can contact Dave directly at westpennworks@gmail.com
