🎃👻 Highlights from the Highland Park Community Council’s Annual Halloween Parade!

We had an amazing turnout with over 75 kids and families celebrating Halloween together! Everyone enjoyed decorating pumpkins, playing games, and creating tasty cookies, all culminating in a festive parade around the fountain.

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers! Also a big thank you to Mad Science Pittsburgh for their exciting spooky science experiment and to the Park Rangers for leading a fun Halloween craft! It was wonderful to see so many creative costumes and smiling faces. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Rides to the Polls on Election Day

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov 5th! Polls are open 7:00am to 8:00pm. There are several entities providing free or reduced rides to the polls. See resources below and make a plan to vote today!

Uber/Lyft Discount

  • Lyft is offering riders a 50% discount of up to $10 on Election Day as part its Voting Access Program. Users can preload the code, VOTE24, on or before Nov. 5 for rideshare, bikeshare or scooter rides, according to the company. The code is only valid between 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. in every time zone.
  • Uber will also offer half off rideshare costs up to $10 on Election Day for users in most states, the company announced on Monday. Using a new “Go Vote” tile displayed on the app, users can book a ride to the nearest poll with the discount unless they are in California or Georgia. The offer works between 4 a.m. local time on Nov. 5 and expires at 11:59 p.m. local time.

Trick-or-Treating Hours & Info

Per the City of Pittsburgh, official neighborhood trick-or-treating hours will be 5:30pm to 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 31st. The City has also provided guidelines on how to safely enjoy the fun on Halloween:

  • Trick-or-treaters should wear costumes that are bright, or carry a light to ensure they are visible to everyone around them.   
  • Motorists are asked to be especially vigilant on  Halloween night. Avoid speeding, and be on the lookout for trick-or-treaters.
  • Parents and guardians should check all candy before allowing children to indulge.

We are sharing a few tips below on how to help make Halloween a safe, fun, and accessible experience for every child – regardless of their abilities or needs!

Pumpkin Patch 2024 Recap

The Great Pumpkin Visits Bryant Street! This year’s HPCC Pumpkin Patch saw glorious sunshine and a great turnout! Adults, children, and even some pups got to frolic amongst the pumpkins, enjoy the spooky decorations, take beautiful fall photos, and support the HPCC.

Thank you to all of our visitors for coming out, and to everyone who was able to provide a donation. Also, a special shout out of thanks to all our amazing volunteers, without whom this event (and others!) wouldn’t be possible: Bob Staresinic, Sabrina & Dave Culyba, Stephanie & Randy Walsh, Laura & Sadie Myers, and Becky Marinov.
