The Highland Park Super Playground renovation project is still underway. The plans for the new playground went before the City’s Art Commission this summer and have been approved with some minor modifications. The City is currently finalizing the construction drawings for the playground design. Updated images of the final designs will be posted on the City’s Engage site soon.

The latest schedule for the playground construction has the current playground remaining open through the fall, with ground breaking on the new construction (and closure of the current playground) likely to begin near the end of the year. Construction will continue through spring 2022.

While the playground is closed, there will be opportunities for the community to participate in the input and creation of mosaic pieces to be installed at the playground. HPCC is working with the Pittsburgh Glass Center on these community art elements. Stay tuned for more information this fall!
