Missing welcome to Highland Park Sign
On Saturday, April 20th there was a car accident at Stanton & N. Highland that damaged the Welcome to Highland Park sign.
I’m told by a number of people (including one in the accident) that the part of the sign with lettering was still intact, but that the poles that held it up were badly damaged.
By the time I went down to secure the sign, it was missing and only the broken poles remained.
If you know who has the sign or saw something that might help us reclaim it, please let me know.
No one will get in trouble if it is returned. I am going to assume they took it to keep it safe. The sign cost $3,000 to create and install and I would like to save a portion of that cost when replacing it – if possible.

HPCC Community Priorities Survey 2019
The Highland Park Community Council (HPCC) & Highland Park Community Development Corporation conducted a comprehensive neighborhood plan in 2004. HPCC is now taking time to reflect again on its vision and goals and we want to hear from neighborhood residents. The HPCC board’s preliminary discussions included reviewing the findings from the neighborhood plan, a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis, and internal polling. During our March 2019 community meeting, we presented our initial thoughts to attendees and asked for their input. We’ve taken what we’ve heard and have adapted it into this community survey. We hope that you’ll share with us your thoughts on how the HPCC should invest its time, energy, and resources so that our organization can more effectively engage residents and respond to the community’s interests and needs.

HPCC Spring Fling!
The Highland Park Community Council is throwing a neighborhood picnic! On Thursday, May 16 neighborhood residents are invited to come, relax, and meet their neighbors at this free, fun event! You’ll find:
• Free food & refreshments, including a cookie table!
• Beer tasting for adults
• Door prizes
• Kids activities
• Trivia
• Music
The picnic will run from 5 – 9 pm at the Super Playground / Maple Shelter in Highland Park.

We vote twice a year, every year! With the primary election coming up on May 21, the HPCC is proud to be hosting a candidate forum at our April meeting. Hear from:

The HPCC meeting will begin at 7 pm at St. Andrew’s Church, Thursday April 18. There will be free pizza and childcare. Please feel free to forward this information to others who may be interested in hearing from the candidates.
Prior to the candidate Forum, representatives from Girls Hope will be on hand to give a presentation and answer questions about their plans to open a new home in Highland Park. More info on this issue can be found in the March HPCC Newsletter.
