HPCC Monthly Meeting, September 20th

Please join us Thursday, Sept 20th at 7 PM at St. Andrew’s Church for the next monthly Highland Park Community Council meeting. This month, we will be having an HPCC-wide vote for new Directors and new Board members for 2012-2013; we will have preview of some changes to the HPCC by-laws, which are needed to support our transition to becoming a 501(c)3 and which will formally voted on during our October meeting; and we will be reviewing HPCC’s finances from our 2011-2012 fiscal year. We are also tentatively slated to have City Councilman Patrick Dowd come and speak with us regarding a couple of issues related to our community and its priorities. We look forward to seeing you there!

Zone 5 Citizens Public Safety Council Meeting, September 11th

The Zone 5 Citizens Public Safety Council meets on the second Tuesday of every month (except August and December) at 7:00pm at the Union Project at 801 N. Negley Ave. (intersection with Stanton Ave.)

Next Meeting – September
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 11th at 7pm at the Union Project.

Liz Style from the Mayor’s Office will be in attendance to talk about the Blockwatch in a Box. If you have ever wondered whether a blockwatch might benefit your block or neighborhood or felt that your current blockwatch needs new energy, this is the meeting to attend. Ms. Style will go over why people start blockwatches, the contents of the “box”, and some pointers on starting new blockwatches and rejuvenating struggling ones.

We hope that residents who are already involved in a blockwatch or want to start one will leave the meeting with the information they need to talk to their neighbors and make an informed decision on how to move forward. Then, Ms. Style will return to the October meeting to answer questions that have arisen and give advice about moving on to the next steps.

Additional News
This will be the last meeting that Commander O’Connor will be able to attend in 2012 as he will be attending a special training during the October and November meetings (and there is no meeting in December). We expect that the Acting Commander or Community Relations Officer will be able to attend in his absence.
