Please join us for the HPCC November Meeting – Thursday, November 21 at 7PM at Union Project. Everyone is invited to attend.

We have a full evening planned:
· Rob Collins of the Bryant Street Market will be on hand to answer questions from the neighborhood concerning his beer-only liquor license application and how it will affect the market.
· Paul Svoboda from the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh will also be joining us to discuss East Liberty’s TRID planning and how it will affect the intersections surrounding Highland Park – East Liberty Boulevard and N. Highland Avenue specifically.
· I will be discussing some planned changes to the intersection at Bryant St. and N. Negley that came out of the HPCC Pedestrian Safety Review that we submitted to the City last year. All homeowners impacted by that intersection are urged to come join in the discussion.
· Dave Atkinson, HPCC VP and Education Committee Chair, will discuss the proposed closing of Woolslair, part of Pittsburgh Public Schools.

Route 8 Heths Run Bridge Replacement Begins Tuesday in Pittsburgh

stopPittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing a temporary roadway bypassing the Heths Run Bridge on Butler Street (Route 8) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will open to traffic on Tuesday, Nov. 12, weather permitting.

Beginning at approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 crews will shift traffic onto a temporary roadway through the Pittsburgh Zoo parking lot, bypassing the bridge. The temporary roadway will begin at the intersection of One Wild Place and end at Baker Street. Motorists on Butler Street will have access to One Wild Place in both directions. Motorists heading inbound will turn right at the new signal onto Baker Street and then turn left to continue on Butler Street.

Additionally, crews will be installing barriers and painting lines on the temporary roadway on Tuesday.

Heavy trucks will be detoured. Signs will be posted to guide trucks.

Follow southbound Route 28 to northbound Route 8
Take the exit to northbound Route 8 towards Butler
At the first traffic signal, turn left onto Kittanning Street

Turn left onto Bridge Street
Follow Bridge Street to southbound Route 8 (62nd Street Bridge)
Cross the 62nd Street Bridge
Follow to Butler Street
End detour

The work is part of the $14.9 million Route 8 Heths Run Bridge Replacement Project. The existing bridge built in 1913-14 will be replaced with a new structure. Additionally, the project includes reconstruction of 870 feet of Butler Street, improvements on One Wild Place, drainage, and sidewalk and signal upgrades.

To help keep motorists informed as work on the Heths Run Bridge continues PennDOT is creating an email distribution list for Route 8 traffic advisories and construction updates. Enroll by sending email addresses to stcowan@pa.gov and writing “Subscribe – Route 8” in the subject line.

Motorists are advised to use caution and expect possible delays.

PGH Yard Debris Collection: Nov 9th

Works’ Environmental Services Division’s fall 2013
yard debris collection day to be held on Saturday,
November 9th.
Please note the following guidelines for
debris collection:
• Bag Leaves for Collection: Residents must
bag leaves in paper bags only and place
them out at your normal refuse collection
site. Bags should NOT exceed 35 pounds.
Leaves in plastic bags will not be accepted.
Paper yard debris bags can be purchased at
Home Depot.
• Tree Branches and Bushes: Cut, bundle
and tie branches and bushes in lengths
not exceeding 5 ft. in length. Tree branch
diameter should not exceed four (4) inches.
Please note that City crews will NOT collect
dirt, rocks, stones or cement. Yard debris left
at the curb by contracted lawn care workers or
independent contractors will NOT be collected
by city crews.
