Highland Park Community Council Homeowner Survey

During the 2014 Highland Park House Tour many showcase homeowners, neighbors and tour guests voiced an interest to learn from each other and trusted experts how to best care for their homes inside and out. Based on this feedback and desire to connect with other residents the HPCC is sponsoring a FREE event to answer questions, connect residents with resources and each other, and educate our community on maintaining a home in our National Residential Historic District.

The event is planned for February 2015 with a goal of educating the community at large on home improvements, general home maintenance issues, navigating city processes such as permitting and innovative approaches to enhancing the value of your residence.

Please take a few minutes to provide us with input into the planning of this event by taking this short survey. Your input will be used to determine topics, content and speakers.

District 7 at your Doorstep

D7 District 7 at your Doorstep is a new initiative from Councilwoman Gross’s office to help connect with constituents and better understand their concerns. Friday afternoons will be spent visiting residents of the district to witness first hand areas of concern. Appointments can be used to illustrate a particularly dangerous intersection, highlight a building inspection issue, or add emphasis to a recently discussed problem. To schedule an appointment contact the Community Relations Coordinator, Brenton Weinert by phone: 412-255-2140 or e-mail at brenton.weinert@pittsburghpa.gov.

HPCC Annual Halloween Parade: Nov 1 at 11am (in Oak Grove)

Calling all ghosts and goblins! The Highland Park Community Council’s annual Halloween parade and festivities will take place Saturday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Highland Park.
We will gather at Oak Grove then parade to the fountain, where we will decorate homemade cookies and have snacks.* Volunteers to escort our parade participations and to help decorate cookies are needed.
To find Oak Grove, turn right upon reaching the road at the main entrance of the park, pass the road leading to the Farm House. The little clearing with a bench and sign saying “Oak Grove” is just a few more yards. You can’t miss it, but just in case we will have signs or volunteers to point the way.
The parade will begin shortly after 11 in order to give everyone time to gather.
To volunteer or if you have questions, contact Teri Rucker via e-mail or by phone at 412-482-2533.
*All snacks and cookies will be nut-free.
