On April 5th, a female victim was robbed at gunpoint while out walking near Jackson and N St Clair. This occurred at 9:30pm. She described the robber as a black male, 20-25 years old, 6’0″ tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, short hair, and carried a black semi-automatic pistol. Zone 5 detectives and Community Resource Officers are investigating. The suspect possibly fled in a silver Subaru with the last 4 digits of the plate being 7863. This is the second such incident this year.

Until the perpetrator is apprehended, please use extra caution when out walking. And if you see anything suspicious, please call 911 immediately.

Do you need the yellow paint on your curb or your nearby intersection repainted? If so, please call 311 and report the specific address or intersection. This spring, the Department of Public Works will be targeting Highland Park for repainting. If this is a request to paint a new spot, please make the same request – though the process may take longer or the request may be denied. Please join us this Thursday to meet our new Zone 5 Commander Jason Lando and get important updates first hand on the Highland Park OLEA for dogs.

We will specifically be discussing the location of the OLEA so if you are a dog owner, we encourage you to attend.

The meeting will start at 7:00pm and will be held at our usual location at St Andrew’s Church at 5801 Hampton Street.

Here’s are two tips we learned at the Love Your Home event.  You can get up to $2500 in additional remodeling services through Healthy Home Incentive Program from Allegheny County Public Health Invest ( with a minimum of $5000 towards energy efficiency upgrades of $5,500 or more), and you can get get a home energy audit for only $150 (normally $400) from Duquesne Light.
